Last weekend brought in some more precipitation to our valley, though it came in as mostly rain. Trails at higher elevations such as the Galena trails, Red Warrior, Alden, and Osberg are all still reported to be snow covered. Mid elevation trails such as Fox Creek and Greenhorn trails will have variable conditions, expect sections of mud especially in the trees. These trails are likely best used while they are still frozen. Hailey and Bellevue trails dried out nicely and are still a good option throughout the day until we receive more rain and snow.  The newer trail builds will likely be muddier than established trails. Keep a close eye on temps and conditions as we move into late fall and please only use trails when they are dry or frozen. Watch out for extended muddy sections, if you are leaving footprints or tire marks, the best practice is to turn back and find a better option. Pack extra layers, a headlamp for morning and afternoon adventures, and stay safe while you enjoy the trails!

Sheep-

Sheep should mostly be out of the valley at this point, though there is always potential for a few herds to be coming through before the snow comes in. Stay aware of your surroundings and keep an eye on summertrailink.org for any updated sheep locations.

  • Wood River Trail- Possible to encounter sheep using the WRT/sheep driveway to move south before more snow.
